Allen Ginsberg is an icon of the Beat movement, a visionary poet whose defiantly bold poems invariably produced the effect of a bomb exploding, outraged by philistines and admired by hipsters, outcasts and rebels. The ecstatic “Howl” and the confessional “Kaddish”—the poetry collections that made Ginsberg famous and secured his place in the counterculture pantheon—are being published in Russian in their entirety for the first time, in a new translation by Dmitry Manin. The introductory article and comments to the collection were prepared by philosopher and literary researcher Dmitry Khaustov. The publication was created in collaboration with the Allen Ginsberg Estate.
