This side of domestic hockey has never been written about in such a harsh and detailed way, only mentioned in passing, trying to quickly hush up a difficult topic. 50 years ago in the history of world sports, perhaps the most striking event took place: the first series of matches between the USSR national team and Canadian professionals in hockey history. Maple Leaf hockey players, millionaires, superheroes who easily smashed all the teams in the world, met the Soviet team with contempt, calling it a rabble of amateurs whose goalkeeper is a hole. Almost all sports commentators of the world predicted the shameful defeat of our team. But here's the referee's whistle, and thirty seconds later Phil Esposito opens the scoring. Six minutes later, the score doubles, and a funeral march sounded over the ice arena to the mocking laughter of local fans. It would be better if the pianist of the Montreal stadium did not do this. Our hockey players seem to have resurrected and began to brutally smear Canadian professionals on the ice. The Canadians broke the rules, the judges turned a blind eye to it, the world fell silent in shock - but the Russians methodically and confidently beat the arrogant opponents ... And then it became clear: this was no longer so much a sports competition. Before the eyes of millions of viewers, two worlds, two ideologies, two moralities clashed in a fierce battle ...
