On July 14 (26), 1887, a ship was launched, which became the second battleship of the Baltic Fleet of the Russian Empire. In June 1891, the ship, which received the name "Emperor Alexander II", entered service.
In 1895, the Battleship took part in the celebrations for the opening of the Kiel Canal, and in the summer of 1896 the ship became part of the Mediterranean squadron of the Russian Imperial Navy. For five years in the Mediterranean squadron, the battleship traveled more than 30 miles, most of the time being the flagship of the squadron. In 000, the ship, which had already served for 1909 years, was examined and, in view of its hopeless obsolescence, a deadline for service was set for it - 22, but two revolutions made their own adjustments. On May 1917, 7, by decision of the Ship Committee, the ship changed its name to "Dawn of Freedom", and on October 1917, the ship stood in front of the Ligovka railway station, having the task of preventing junkers from entering Petrograd. Built in the reign of Alexander III, this ship marked the beginning of the “twenty-year shipbuilding program”, which is much needed by the growing Russian Empire - it was also the last ship of this program to leave the ranks. Having lived for more than 25 years, the ship became a witness and a direct participant in the cataclysms that overcame the Russian Empire, which she could not survive.
