This publication is a collection of selected short stories by an outstanding Japanese writer of the early twentieth century. Akutagawa Ryunosuke. His texts are extremely diverse, and at different times they were translated by different translators, but for this collection there was only one selection criterion - all the translations in the book belong to the famous Soviet Japanese scholar, philologist, linguist, translator Natalia Isaevna Feldman, who would have turned 120 this year years. Throughout her life, she repeatedly returned to work on Akutagawa; collections of his works in her translations were published in 1936, 1959 and 1971, equipped with her own prefaces and comments. It so happened that in Russian culture these two names are Akutagawa Ryunosuke and Natalia Isaevna Feldman - turned out to be inextricably linked. Her translations are so good that it seems as if Akutagawa wrote in Russian. However, the reader can see this for himself by reading the book.
