This book is the memoirs of Lennart Dahlgren, who opened the first IKEA stores in Russia. Having headed the Russian division of the company in the crisis year of 1998, for eight years he faced opposition from the Russian bureaucratic machine every day. But despite the sometimes absurd opposition, Dahlgren managed to open large shopping centers in Moscow, St. Petersburg, Nizhny Novgorod, Samara, Yekaterinburg and other cities. In his memoirs, he does not limit himself to the chronology of the struggle with Russian officials at the highest level, without hesitating to name names and express his own, sometimes very impartial, interpretation of events. The book contains many everyday observations of a Swede who found himself completely immersed in the Russian business and cultural environment and at the same time retained the unbiased and sympathetic view of a person who forever fell in love with our country.
