This book is the first printed work published in Russia after 1917, which examines in detail the evolution of the Russian military uniform of the time of Alexander II. Structurally, the narrative is divided into a general part, which discusses changes in the form of uniforms that apply to all or a significant part of the troops and military personnel, and chapters on particular changes in the uniforms of various branches of the military (imperial retinue, guards infantry, army cavalry, etc.). Special chapters describe weapons, equipment and horse harness. As an application, the rules for wearing various forms of uniforms (ceremonial, festive, ordinary and marching) are given. For convenience, the book is divided into two volumes: the first, which includes a general part, as well as a description of the form of the guards units, and the second, which describes the uniforms of army troops, as well as weapons, equipment and rules for wearing uniforms, and the second, dedicated to the uniforms of regular guards and army troops, as well as Alexander II (from 1855 to 1861 inclusive). The book is supplied with rich reference and illustrative material from domestic and foreign museums and private collections, much of which is being published for the first time. The publication is intended for a wide range of readers - employees of museums and educational institutions, theater and film artists, lovers of military historical miniatures, military historical reenactors and anyone interested in the history of Russian military uniforms.
