The second half of 1915 became the most difficult time for Russia during the entire period of the First World War. The passivity of the Entente allies allowed the Austro-German command to concentrate its main forces on the Eastern (Russian) Front, which, coupled with insufficient combat support, put the Russian troops in an extremely difficult situation. With fighting they had to leave the territory of Poland and part of the Baltic states. But the Russian command managed to avoid strategic encirclement and stabilize the front line. In bloody defensive battles, the enemy suffered huge losses, but was never able to bring Russia out of the war.
All this and, first of all, the courage of Russian soldiers and officers is described in the book by Doctor of Historical Sciences A.V. Oleinikov.
