They say that the activity of a historian is in many ways akin to the work of an investigator. I had to be convinced of the validity of this statement in October 2015, when the tomb of its founder, who lived in the second half of the XNUMXth century, was opened in one of the oldest cloisters of Vladimir, the Dormition Knyaginin Monastery. Maria Shvarnovna, the first wife of the Grand Duke of Vladimir Vsevolod the Big Nest. The remains of four people were found in the burial. This amazing find led to a whole investigation to find out: who were these people and what did they have to do with each other? Step by step, the historian still manages to unravel this riddle. Along the way, other questions are being resolved: who was Maria by ethnic origin - a “yasnya”, that is, who came from the people of the Yases - the ancestors of modern Ossetians (as the ancient Ipatiev Chronicle suggests), or whether she came from Czechs, as the chroniclers XV-XVII say centuries? Was her father a prince and where did he reign? When and why was the Dmitrievsky Cathedral built in Vladimir? Where did the lion on the coat of arms of Vladimir come from? Where did you find The Tale of Igor's Campaign?
