Arkady Perventsev is a Russian Soviet writer, screenwriter, playwright and journalist. During the Great Patriotic War, he served as a political worker of the RKKF, having the rank of captain of the 1st rank. Together with Evgeny Petrov (co-author of Ilya Ilf), he got into a plane crash, miraculously survived. In novels and short stories written in Soviet times, Perventsev did not write about what he happened to see in the rear during the war years. He revealed the whole truth about this only in his memoirs. “War breaks all masks,” said Perventsev, and when you read his memoirs, you understand what he meant. At critical moments of the war in the rear, sometimes out of the ordinary things happened. Well-known politicians, cultural figures, "rulers of thoughts" often appeared from an unsightly side - it is no coincidence that they received the nickname "rear rats" among the people.
