In the center of the plot of the story "Satellites" is the everyday life of the staff of the military hospital train, one of those that during the Great Patriotic War took the wounded from the front to the rear hospitals. The story is written on the basis of the personal experience of Vera Panova, who made several flights together with doctors. Despite the fact that Panova focuses on the private stories of her heroes, she managed to create a surprisingly voluminous panorama of human destinies against the backdrop of a national disaster. Thanks to the skill of the author and the high moral message of the story, it does not lose its relevance and still arouses the reader's constant interest. The graphic artist Valentina Petrova creates accurate images of the heroes of the story with sparing, but extremely expressive means, honestly following the author's intention in her work. In her interpretation, the pictures of military life are devoid of pathos, do not abound in details, but convey the spirit of selfless service to the chosen cause, the spirit of genuine compassion and mercy.
