The book introduces the reader to the work of the famous English writer Joseph Rudyard Kipling (1865-1936). Traveling to different countries, in 1899 he spent several months in South Africa, where he collected material for a new children's book, which was published in 1902 under the title Fairy Tales. Children all over the world are reading his stories about a curious baby elephant, about a cat that walked by itself, about how a leopard became spotted, how the first letter was written. This guide will help high school students prepare for the State Core English Examination. The text of the manual has been adapted for educational purposes to the level of Elementary. Each chapter is accompanied by a commentary, translation of difficult words and expressions, as well as exercises aimed at developing the communicative competence of students. The exercises will allow you to form communication skills in reading, writing and speaking, as well as develop lexical and grammatical skills. At the end of the manual there are answers to most of the tasks, an English-Russian dictionary, as well as a test in the OGE format with keys. The book is intended for students in grades 5-8 of educational organizations, as well as a wide range of people studying English.
