Three young Muscovites come to a remote village in the Volga region for a hack job: they need to remove a dying fresco from the wall of an abandoned church. On the fresco is a heretical image of St. Christopher with the head of a dog. It turns out that in the old days the village was a schismatic skete, and the hack was the experience of the mysterious dangerologists, "sappers" of world culture. And in the haze of peat fires, the lost historical memory gives rise to a terrible Psoglavets - either the demon of schismatics, or the god of the camp guard. If you like, this is a genre novel, a horror movie about werewolves. New village prose, if you will. If you like - stylization for web surfing on the theme of the Russian split. But in general, Psoglavtsy is a story about the invisible boundaries of culture and the guardians of these boundaries. Any society has a certain circle of beliefs, and society does not allow a person to leave this circle, and if a person dares to go beyond the sacred limit, then monsters rush after him.
