The publication is based on the materials of the publishing project "Orthodox shrines of Latvia", which was carried out in the format of an appendix to the Latvian weekly "Saturday" with the blessing of Metropolitan of Riga and All Latvia Alexander (Kudryashov) in 2008-2009. Today, more than a hundred Orthodox churches and two monasteries operate in Latvia - the Jekabpils Holy Spirit Monastery and the Holy Trinity Sergius Convent in Riga with a branch in the Transfiguration Hermitage near Jelgava (Valgunde). Each church has its own unique history, each church has its own shrines, with stories about which you can get acquainted on the pages of this guide. A separate chapter is devoted to each object with information about patronal feasts and memorable dates, historical information, schedule of services, contact information.
