The task of understanding fashion as a social, cultural, economic or political phenomenon lies in an interdisciplinary field. To solve it, researchers have to use the widest methodological arsenal and turn to different areas of humanitarian knowledge. Collection “Comprehension of fashion. A Review of Key Theories" consists of articles that analyze the classical works of K. Marx and Z. Freud, the postmodern theories of J. Baudrillard, J. Derrida and J. Deleuze, the actor-network theory of B. Latour and the theory of political body in the texts of M. Foucault and D. Butler. Each of the chapters, arranged in chronological order by the year of the thinker's birth, is devoted to one of these concepts: the reader will find in them a summary of the hero's key ideas, an analysis of their potential and methodological limitations, as well as an analysis of specific cases illustrating the productivity of one or another approach to studying fashion. Among the authors of the collection are Peter McNeil, Efrat Ceelon, Joan Entwhistle, Francesca Granata and other influential fashion researchers.
