The monograph examines visual anthropological materials of the late XNUMXth — early XNUMXth centuries related to expeditions to develop the Far Eastern region. Unique visual (drawings, photos, film) documents of researchers and travelers are introduced into scientific circulation: V. K. Arsenyev, B. A. Zherebtsov, A. A. Litvinov, B. I. Dybovsky, N. V. Kirilov, I. A. Lopatin, P. T. Novograblenov, E. P. Orlova, B. O. Pilsudsky, P. I. Polevoy, stored in the regional archives of the Far East. It is shown that visual sources on the history of the Far Eastern frontier were colorful evidence of the cultural evolution of indigenous peoples and the processes of colonization of the region and at the same time formed stable visual images of the imperial and Soviet Far East in the public mind. For historians, ethnologists, ethnographers, anthropologists, sociologists, philosophers, political scientists, culturologists, teachers and university students.
