"Memoirs" by Leni Riefenstahl (1902-2003), first translated into Russian, is truly a sensational monument of the era, capturing the time through the eyes of one of the most talented women of the 1935th century. A dancer and actress who worked at the beginning of her life with the most famous Western actors, she later became famous as a brilliant master of documentary films, perhaps the main classic of this genre. Her films such as Triumph of the Will (1936) and Olympia (1938-XNUMX) will forever remain grandiose monuments of the "grand style" of the totalitarian era. Highly valued by Hitler, Riefenstahl also knew his entourage intimately. Goebbels, Goering, Himmler and other bosses of the Third Reich are described by her vividly, with an abundance of domestic and even intimate details. In the post-war years, Riefenstahl devoted herself to studying the life of African tribes and underwater photography of oceanic flora and fauna. She told about her exotic hobbies of the last decades in the second part of the book. Critics wrote about the huge "Memoirs": it is such a "dizzying reading" that you have to make frequent stops in order to maintain peace of mind.
