"The Cure for Fear" (1976) is one of the most famous novels by the Weiner brothers, which was released during the golden age of the writers' work and subsequently filmed twice. The method of combining time plans, previously tried by the authors in A Visit to the Minotaur, again made it possible to create not just an exciting detective story, but a work in which a modern plot is intertwined with a historical one, in this case, with a story about the 1978th-century alchemist Paracelsus. The main story is told from the perspective of the regular hero of the Weiner brothers, Inspector Tikhonov. This time the crime was committed with the help of a drug unknown in medicine. During the investigation, it turns out that two scientists are working on it and the appearance of a new drug should make a real revolution in science ... The publication also includes the story "The City Accepted! .." (XNUMX) - a chronicle of one day of work of the operational group of the Moscow Criminal Investigation Department. Part of the episodes formed the basis of the film of the same name.
