A person is accustomed to consider himself the crown of creation, his strengths - the norm, and weaknesses - a deviation. The author's approach is fundamentally different: we are inherently imperfect; our brain, like the body, was formed quite randomly in the course of evolution, from the “materials at hand” of nature, and is the so-called kluge - an absurd, clumsy, but surprisingly effective solution to the problem. The concept of the kluge sheds light on important aspects of our lives and explains many of the problems we face. The author's conclusions are optimistic: having a proper understanding of the balance of strengths and weaknesses of the human mind, we get the opportunity to help not only ourselves, but also society.
