The philosophical and economic ideas of Karl Marx (1818-1883) and Friedrich Engels (1820-1895) played a huge role in the life of the whole world and our country in particular, laying the foundations of the revolutionary doctrine of society. Capital, Karl Marx's huge three-volume work, was revised by the German historian and economist J. Borchardt, who created a more compact version. The compiler's idea is to "let Marx himself speak" and enable any reader to understand the essence of the dialectical-materialist approach. The work "The Origin of the Family, Private Property and the State" by Friedrich Engels (1884) is devoted to the evolution of the family and marriage, the origin and essence of statehood. The book also includes the "Manifesto of the Communist Party" (1848), written by scientists on behalf of the "Union of the Just" society. This document marked the beginning of the formation of the international communist movement. All these works were required to be studied in the universities of the USSR and for many years influenced the worldview of Soviet citizens. But were the works of Marx and Engels correctly understood and interpreted?
