“The Diary of a Genius” (French “Journal d'un genie”) is a kind of memoir by Salvador Dali, written by the artist between 1952 and 1963 and published in Paris in 1964. At this time, Dali was already world famous, and his new book is both a creative manifesto and an attempt to explain or even justify in the eyes of the public the image he cultivated of a “genuine genius of modernity”, who had the misfortune to be born in an “era of almost dwarfs”. The full text of the diary is enriched by marginal appendices provided by the author himself for the first edition: 'Science of Bzdyuma', 'Praise of the Fly', 'Dalian Mysticism...', as well as a comparative table of the merits of past and future artists.
