Anatoly Ivanovich Lukyanov in 1990-1991 was chairman of the Supreme Soviet of the USSR. He was brought to criminal responsibility in the case "On the August Putsch of 1991". Lukyanov was not a member of the GKChP, however, according to many, he was one of the initiators of the events of August 1991.
From August 29, 1991 to December 1992, he was in the pre-trial detention center "Matrosskaya Tishina", after which he was released on bail. On February 23, 1994, by a resolution of the State Duma, an amnesty was declared for all participants in the coup, and the criminal case was closed. In his book, A. I. Lukyanov decided to tell about all the circumstances of the so-called GKChP conspiracy.
