The battle for Moscow is one of the most important episodes of the Great Patriotic War. A colossal battle, formed from many individual battles and, at first glance, local military operations. In the book of Vladimir Mikhailovich Melnikov, one of such episodes is mentioned - the heroic actions of the 33rd Army of General Efremov in the area of Naro-Fominsk, Borovsk, Vereya and Vyazma. The 33rd Army, which staunchly fought against the superior forces of the Wehrmacht corps, even when surrounded, continued to conduct military operations, chaining a large number of German divisions to itself, thus weakening the enemy strike groups and contributing to the overall success of the Soviet troops in the battle for Moscow. Much attention in the book is paid to the personality of General Efremov, who until the last remained with his soldiers and coordinated the actions of his troops from the front line, despite the possibility of evacuation. A large number of documents cited in the text, carefully selected illustrations and a competent presentation of the events that took place make this book extremely interesting both for professional historians and for a wide audience of readers.
