The monograph continues a series of studies by M. B. Bessudnova devoted to Russian-Hanseatic relations at the end of the Middle Ages and the beginning of the New Age. A number of plots reflecting the main trends in the development of trade relations between Veliky Novgorod and Pskov with the Hanseatic cities of Livonia and the "overseas" Hansa, lead the reader to an understanding of the causes and nature of the changes in the Russian-Hanseatic trade that took place from the moment the trade peace of 1510 was signed and until began in 1558 the Livonian War. The monograph touches upon debatable issues related to the Novgorod German Compound, the commercial successes of Ivangorod and Narva, the "guest policy" of the Livonian cities, the trade strategy of Lübeck, etc. The Appendix contains previously unpublished archival documents from the Ruthenica fund of the Archive of the Hanseatic city of Lübeck, translated by the author. The book is addressed to a wide range of readers interested in the history of Russian-Hanseatic trade relations in the first half of the XNUMXth century.
