During the period between the February and October revolutions, a small town on the island of Kotlin played an important historical role. And in May, when the “Kronstadt Republic” arose, and during the “July days”, in which a detachment of Kronstadt residents took an active part, and in October, when the sailors and soldiers of the local garrison strongly supported the Bolsheviks, Kronstadt and its residents made a noticeable contribution to the Russian (and world) history. The book brought to the reader’s attention is dedicated not only to these events, but also to what life was like in the city on Kotlin during 1917: we will follow the successes and failures of the city police, we will see how the residents of Kronstadt treated women’s equality, we will look at the townspeople who attended revolutionary rallies, and services in the solemn Naval Cathedral, and a concert by Fyodor Chaliapin.
