François Robichon de La Guériniere's book "Equestrian School" was first published a very long time ago, in 1734. More than once reprinted since then, the work has earned among the masters of the Higher School (Haute Ecole) the unspoken name "equestrian bible". For the first time in the history of riding, this book clearly articulated the basics of horse training, which no one has been able to refute to this day. Clear and simple language, lack of repetition, excessive detail, deep knowledge of the history of the issue distinguish "School" from many other similar books. Along with the method of dressage of the horse, the book also gives the doctrine of the conformation of the horse and the criteria for selecting it for various applications. Over the past three centuries, riding has undergone many changes, but any later doctrines only confirmed and developed the principles laid down by La Guerinière. The book may be useful to modern riders, since many of its postulates have entered the rules of today's equestrian sport almost unchanged.
