The book is devoted to the history of the creation and use by Russia in the First World War of combat aviation groups. The prerequisites for the creation of the Special Aviation Group and its combat work on the Southwestern Front in the summer of 1916, as well as the stages of deployment, the composition and features of the use of combat air groups in 1917, are considered in detail. For the first time, a detailed historical description is given for each air group: a chronicle and results of combat work, including air victories and losses, the types and numbers of fighter aircraft are indicated, and brief biographies of the aviators are given.
