The Soviet Union, a large and powerful state that occupied one sixth of the Earth's landmass, was a veritable factory of achievements. In any industry, be it science, defense, culture or sports, the USSR had someone and something to be proud of! First - and most important! - achievements of the Soviet era of the 1920s. were the electrification of the entire country, the elimination of illiteracy, and overcoming the consequences of the revolution and the Civil War. Education and medical care became free for all Soviet citizens. 1930s marked the beginning of a time of grandiose construction projects: units were introduced at the Dnieper Hydroelectric Station, the White Sea-Baltic Canal was built. The 1940s were marked by the victory over fascism and the beginning of the country's restoration. Among the achievements of the 1950s were the successful testing of the hydrogen bomb, the launching of the nuclear icebreaker Lenin, and the development of virgin lands in Kazakhstan, the Volga region, the Urals, Siberia, and the Far East. The “Space Decade” of the 1960s was the time of space victories of the USSR, which began with the flight of Yuri Gagarin. The 1970s and 1980s are the triumph of Soviet culture and sports: the glory of Russian ballet and hockey resounds throughout the world, and the Olympics are held in Moscow. The USSR really was ahead of the rest! We have no right to be ashamed of our recent past, because we have something to be proud of!
But the greatest achievement of the USSR is its people, good-natured, sympathetic, sincere, always ready to help others, without a sense of profit. For the most part, they are kind, educated, cultured and well-read.
