The work of the Buddhist monk Iryong (1206-1289), The Remaining Information [about] the Three States (Samguk yusa), is one of the few fundamental written sources available to modern historians on the history of Korea from the earliest times to the 13th century. The first complete Russian translation of this monument, offered to the reader, is made directly from the Chinese-language original and follows the original text as closely as possible. The translation is accompanied by an introductory article, which summarizes in a concise and accessible manner the basic information necessary to understand in general terms the history, structure, and content of the monument, as well as a page-by-page commentary, the task of which is to provide specific information of textual and reference nature. This book is conceived as a basis for the subsequent work of researchers in various fields: cultural studies, history, source studies, literary studies, folkloristics, ethnography, historical geography, religious studies, history of material culture, and many others. The publication is intended primarily for Korean scholars, both specialists and students, but it can also be useful to non-East historians, such as culturologists, religious scholars, literary scholars and historians, as well as to all those interested in Korean history and culture.
